1978 FJ40

So a cautionary tale of screwing around with eBay, bidding without knowledge of the bidding rules (apparently you can stop the bidding before times up and, like musical chairs, the last person bidding is the “winner”), and ending up with a car project that one had no interest in working on. That is the story of the 1978 Toyota FJ40 I acquired, realized quickly the seller had grossly misrepresented the vehicle, and that it would take a huge amount of work to even get the vehicle running let alone safe to drive. So years went by and through sheer circumstance I found myself talking about with a client who happened to be the former DC FJ40 club president, Rob, and who was gracious enough to eventually take it off my hands so he could have fun rebuilding it.
